"Even The Losers"

"Even The Losers"

Well it was nearly summer we were sat on your roof
Yeah we smoked cigarettes and we stared at the moon
And I showed you stars you never could see
Baby it couldn't been that easy to forget about me

Baby Time meant ain't nothing, anything seemed real
Yeah, you get kissed like fire and you made me feel
Like every word you said was meant to be
Baby it couldn't been that easy to forget about me

Baby, even the losers, they get lucky sometimes
even the losers keep a little bit of pride
they get lucky sometimes

Two cars park on the overpass
rocks hit the water like broken glass
I shoulda known right then it was too good to last
God, it's such a drag to have to live in the past

Baby, even the losers, they get lucky sometimes.
Baby even the losers keep a little bit of pride
they get lucky sometimes.
Baby, even the losers, they get lucky sometimes
Baby even the losers keep a little bit of pride
they get lucky sometimes
Baby, even the losers, they get lucky sometimes.
Baby even the losers keep a little bit of pride
they get lucky sometimes

Like every word you said was meant to be
Baby it couldn't been that easy to forget about me

"Everclear"

"Everclear"

Every day in lunch in high school and all my senior year
I'd drink my coca cola with a touch of Everclear
I never had to study math, science, or history
I'd have a chemical flash back to jog my memory

My junior year I swore I loved sweet Miss Sherri Ann
One night I put some Everclear in her Dr. Pepper can
Well I thought it'd make her easy
She took it pretty hard
I took her home and rang her doorbell left her lying in the yard

Tequila dries me out
Beer just makes me fat
Whiskey makes me nauseous
Now tell me who the hell needs that
So if youєre thinking about drinking
Well the answers crystal clear
It's the invisible, intoxicant
It's called Everclear

I remember my church picnic
In the spring of '89
Yeah they had four fresh watermelons
Sliced right off the vine
When they bowed their heads giving grace for the food
Hey I pulled out my bottle and I soaked them melons good
Well they never knew what hit em
When that potion went to work
They had grandmas doing back flips
Grandpas looking up their skirts
They were singing hallelujah and Willie Nelson songs
Preacher said it was the best dang picnic
That the Baptists had ever thrown

Tequila dries me out
Beer just makes me fat
Whiskey makes me nauseous
Now tell me who the hell needs that
So if youєre thinking about drinking
Well the answers crystal clear
It's the invisible, intoxicant
It's called Everclear

When I'm drinking Everclear
I think I'm king of this whole world
I'm bigger and badder than John Wayne
Cooler than Steve Earl
Until I wake up and I'm face down in the hall
Hey I'm completely naked for a reason I can't recall
Well I'm kinda sorta thinking that maybe I met chick
Cause there's perfume in the air
And there's lipstick on my neck
Well I hope that she was pretty
And I hope that she was kind
Enough to leave my clothes somewhere
They're easy to find

Tequila dries me out
Beer just makes me fat
Whiskey makes me nauseous
Now tell me who the hell needs that
So if youєre thinking about drinking
Well the answers crystal clear
It's the invisible, intoxicant
It's called Everclear

"Family Man"

"Family Man"

I can remember my grandpa when I was five years old, he'd pull me up on his knee, and I remember every story that he ever told,
He and my grandma well they would always be, two southern lovers just kissing on each other so tenderly.

And he'd say, all I ever wanted to be was your family man,
to work real hard girl and give you everything I can,
I just want to be your family man,
tell the children that I'll always lend a helping hand,
I just want to be your family man,
just want to be your family man.

Mom and Dad worked real hard to raise us kids, they were always there for me, and it didn't matter what is was I did,
they've seen the hard times, sickness and the hell, it didn't really take too long, before they found that money it don't mean wealth.

And he'd say, all I ever wanted to be was your family man,
to work real hard girl and give you everything I can,
I just want to be your family man,
tell the children that I'll always lend a helping hand,
I just want to be your family man,
just want to be your family man.

Last night I had a dream from heaven up above, he taught me how to win her heart and win her love,
He said it I was going to love you then listen to what he said and do it His way.

And he'd say, all I ever wanted to be was your family man,
to work real hard girl and give you everything I can,
I just want to be your family man,
tell the children that I'll always lend a helping hand,
I just want to be your family man,
just want to be your family man.

He said you just got to be her family man, work real hard boy, but live your life according to my plan,
you just got to be her family man, tell the children, tell them exactly who I am, you just got to be her family man, just got to be her family man.

"Feeling Pretty Good Tonight"

"Feeling Pretty Good Tonight"

I woke up this morning with the afternoon at my window
I must have tied one on pretty tight last night
I don't even know if I picked up the phone to call you
If I did babe I apologize

I can't believe I even made it out here
Praise the Lord baby, I'm glad I did
Most times I'm just kinda laid back looking for nothing
Never thought someone who looked like you come looking for me

I live my life one drink at a time, happily out of my mind
I never thought I'd find somebody like you to give my whole life to
Hope I don't let my hopes get up too high
I don't know tomorrow you might change you're mind
But I'm feeling pretty good tonight

Tell you something baby, you're as pretty as a Sunday morning
But every Sunday morning's gotta have a little Saturday night
Maybe I could help you make it through 2000 Tuesdays
Maybe you just get wasted away sometime

I live my life one drink at a time, happily out of my mind
I never thought I'd find somebody like you to give my whole life to
Hope I don't let my hopes get up too high
But I don't know tomorrow you might change you're mind
But I'm feeling pretty good tonight

I live my life one drink at a time, happily out of my mind
I never thought I'd find somebody like you to give my whole life to
Babe I might have finally got things right
But I hope tomorrow you don't change you're mind
'Cause I'm feeling pretty good tonight, feeling pretty good tonight

"Feels Just Like It Should"

"Feels Just Like It Should"

Let's jump in my El Camino - Uh huh
Roll the windows down
Thought we could see what kind of trouble
we can find out on this messed up little town

The Boss on the radio- uh huh
Take whatever comes
We'll go flying down the highway with my arms around you singing Born To Run

It feels just like it should
Must be some kind of miracle
Like I got sun on my face and the rain ain't never going to fall
It feels so good
Oh It is almost spiritual
Tomorrow's nowhere in sight
Right now, right here tonight
It feels just like it should

Well you got your good looks - uh huh
And you got your style
And I'd drown here in this ocean
Just to have you float my boat for a while
I got a reputation - uh huh
Don't you worry about that
Just give me a chance and we'll never gonna ever look back

And it feels just like it should
It must be some kind of miracle
Like I got sun on my face and rain that ain't never going to fall
It feels so good
Man it's almost spiritual
Tomorrow's nowhere in sight
Right now, right here tonight
It feels just like it should

Maybe Romeo gets the girl this time
I guess everybody gets the chance to shine
And tonight is mine

It feels just like it should
Must be some kind of miracle
Like I got sun on my face and the rain it ain't never going to fall
Feels so good
Awww it's almost spiritual
Tomorrow's nowhere in sight
Right now, right here tonight
It feels just like it should

Stay, won't you stay, please don't throw this all away
You're out of daydreams girl, but we've got tonight
You've been done so wrong but I can do you right
And there's something for you and there's something for me
So take all you want, and take all you need

He let you go, now here we are
And it's finder's keepers when it comes to the heart

Day after day, I've waited for the chance to say
Love can be a shelter, but it can be a storm
My love's the kind that keeps you safe and warm
And it's waiting for you so baby take it from me
Everything you want, everything you need

He let you go, now here we are
And it's finder's keepers when it comes to the heart

He let you go, now here we are
But it's finder's keepers when it comes to the heart
Yeah it's finder's keepers when it comes to the heart

"Footsteps Of Our Fathers"

"Footsteps Of Our Fathers"

We are walking in the footsteps of our fathers
Standing in the shadows of our mothers
Trying to learn from those who came before us
We see the road maps in the lines upon their face

And as I look out on this crazy congregation
The truth is inside we're all the same
Come on all my sisters and my brothers
Let's go walking
Walking in the footsteps of our Father

Now I'm the first to say I don't know what I'm doin'
And I ain't gonna preach what I don't know
I ain't no deep theologer, no PhD psychologer
I'm makin' all this shit up as I go

But I know for sure we're all in this together
And in a thousand years we still won't get it right
So let's rip a page out of ole' Hank Williams' hymnal
Let's have a little church right here tonight

As I look down at the brother of my daughter
As I kneel and kiss my sister of my son
I only hope I leave a righteous path to follow
As they go walking
Walking in the footsteps of their Father

We are walking in the footsteps of our fathers
Standing in the shadows of our mothers
Trying to learn from those who came before us
We see the road maps in the lines upon their face

And as I look out on this crazy congregation
The truth is inside we're all the same
Come on all my sisters and my brothers
Let's go walking
Walking in the footsteps of our Father

We are walking in the footsteps of our Father

"Gallywinter"

"Gallywinter"

When I was a kid I had a rockin' horse named Ranger out on the front porch we
would ride, we would ride, little red cowboy boots, Little red cowboy hat and a
pistol that shoots straight as an eagle flies, mamma would come out say it's
time to come in,I ain't going nowhere mamma and don't ask me again,I was just
an outlaw riding on the trail knocking over stagecoaches and riding on the rails.

I'm gone to Gallywinter
place where all the cowboys ride
place where all the outlaws ride
away from the men who want to kill them for what they've done
I'm gone to Gallywinter.

I'm gone to Gallywinter sister would come out and say "Where you going anyway?"
I'm going to Gallywinter and there ain't no girls allowed, I guess things are
different now, times have changed. A girl is nice to have with you while you're
riding on the range, She can make you breakfast and talk to you at night you
can argue about things you never thought you'd argue about in your whole life,
twenty five years older and Ranger ain't here no more, been replaced by a 1958
model T-bird Ford. Baby said where you want to go, I said I don't know, maybe
Mexico anywhere where tequila flows is alright with me.

I'm gone to Gallywinter
place where all the cowboys ride
place where all the outlaws ride
away from the men who want to kill them for what they've done
I'm gone to Gallywinter.

"George's Bar"

"George's Bar"

My brother and I used to go down to Georges Bar
We'd drink Big O's until they closed down the place
We'd talk about our lifelong ambition
I still recall the smile upon his face

He took off for the bright lights down in Austin
Said Pat don't you know there ain't no money here
He made a million bucks selling computers
I still go to George's and drink my beer

He's gone, yeah he's gone but I'm still here
He's gone, yeah he's gone but I'm still here

There was this curly headed girl back in the seventh grade
She didn't even know she caught my eye
We dated for a little while back in high school
I thought that one day she'd be my wife

The road took a turn somewhere around 18
She took off to find her own way
Fell in for some Nashville high roller
I know he's gonna break her heart one day

She's gone, yeah she's gone but I'm still here
She's gone, yeah she's gone but I'm still here

I used to go to my grandpas house every Sunday
We'd watch those Dukes of Hazard on TV
Sit around and sometimes he'd tell me stories
About how simple life used to be

My grandpa died a year ago last Sunday
I thought to myself he was a helluva man
And I know when the darkness surrounds me
He reaches out and he takes my hand

He's gone, yeah he's gone but I'm still here
He's gone, he mabye gone, I swear to God that he's still here

"Girls From Texas"
(feat. Lyle Lovett)

"Girls From Texas"
(feat. Lyle Lovett)

Girls from Georgia are sweeter than peaches
Ones from California are mode for bathing suits and beaches
Minnesota gals sure fill out a sweater
But the girls from Texas are just a little bit better

Mississippi’s got all them delta queens
And Louisiana Cajun girls beat all I’ve ever seen
Ever kiss a girl from Kansas you damn sure won’t forget her
But the girls from Texas are just a little bit better

Feel the southern drawl from the ones in Arkansas
They’re so sexy in New Mexico
But the only ten I see ain’t in Tennessee
She’s waiting for me in San Antonio

Up in Oklahoma they’re more than just OK
They don’t come more fun than Alabama
But if you can find a lone-star gal boy you better get’r
Cause the girls from Texas are just a little bit better

It don’t get no finer than the girls in Carolina
I’m talking North, I’m talking south
But the only ten I see ain’t in Tennessee
In ol’ cow town

Up in Colorado they can melt snow
Out in Nevada they’re always putting on a show
New York’s got the fashion, Florida’s got the weather
But the girls from Texas are just a little bit better

Once you cross that red river hoss
You’ll stay there forever
‘Cause the girls in Texas are just a little bit better
