"The First One"

"The First One"

You're the first one that I've ever loved this way
And the only one to ever hear me say
Take my heart and all that's in it
It will beat for you each minute
You're the first, and I'll stick by you come what may

There are those I know who like to run around
But believe me I would never let you down
I could never get the notion
To put ideas like that in motion
You're my heart's life and the only girl in town

I don't have a little book that's full of names
I don't live my life to play such foolish games
You're my pride and my possession
While all other loves keep guessing
You're the first one, and that's why I'll never change

You're the first that's ever made me feel like this
Yes the first to ever thrill me with a kiss
When those pretty eyes are gleaming
Makes me wonder if I'm dreaming
You're the first one, and the last one I'll forget

"The Ghost Of Another Man"

"The Ghost Of Another Man"

He's living in that big old house that he knows was built by me
He's playing with the baby that belongs to her and me.
At night he loves a woman that was held by these two hands
He must be leaving hell to live with a ghost of another man.
My name is in the side wall outside our bedroom door
He can't help but see what's too dare in me everywhere he goes.
He gladly walked through heaven to forget what he can't stand
He must be leaving hell to live with a ghost of another man.
I don't mean to haunt him when they turn out the lights
I'm there in the bedroom with both of them each night.
And he wonders if he just loved her
As good as I loved her back then
He must be leaving hell to live
With a ghost of another man.

"The Good Ole Bible"

"The Good Ole Bible"

I believe the Father Adam
Was the first created man
That Eve was made his wife
According to the Master's plan

They lost their home in Eden
The Lord they did offend
I believe the good ole Bible
From beginning to the end

I believe that master Able

Was slain by master Cain
That Noah did go in the Ark
To get out of the rain
I believe that little David

Slew Goliath and his men
I believe the good ole Bible
From beginning to the end
I believe the Hebrew children

Walked in the burning fire
That Ananias was struck dead
Because he was a lair
I believe that father Daniel

Walked in the Lions den
I believe the good ole Bible
From beginning to the end
I believe that the blessed Master

Turned the water into wine
As pure and sweet and harmless
As the grapes upon the vine

All other wines are mockers
The scriptures do contend
I believe the good ole Bible
From beginning to the end

"The Grand Tour"

"The Grand Tour"

Step right up, come on in
If you'd like to take the grand tour
Of a lonely house that once was home sweet home
I have nothing here to sell you,
Just some things that I will tell you
Some things I know will chill you to the bone.

Over there, sits the chair
Where she'd bring the paper to me
And sit down on my knee
And whisper oh, I love you
But now she's gone forever
And this old house will never
Be the same without the love
That we once knew.

Straight ahead, that's the bed
Where we'd lay in love together
And Lord knows we had a good thing going here
See her picture on the table
Don't it look like she'd be able
Just to touch me and say good morning dear.

There's her rings, all her things
And her clothes are in the closet
Like she left them
When she tore my world apart.

As you leave you'll see the nursery,
Oh, she left me without mercy
Taking nothing but
Our baby and my heart.

Step right up, come on in...

"The King Is Gone (So Are You)"

"The King Is Gone (So Are You)"

Last night I broke the seal on a Jim Beam decanter
That looks like Elvis
I soaked the label off a Flintstone Jelly Bean jar
I cleared us off a place on that
One little table that you left us
And pulled me up a big ole piece of floor

I pulled the head off Elvis
Filled Fred up to his pelvis
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

'Round about ten we all got to talking
'Bout Graceland, Bedrock and such
The conversation finally turned to women
But they said they didn't get around too much
Elvis said, "Find 'em young"
And Fred said "Old Fashioned girls are fun"
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

Later on it finally hit me
That you wouldn't be 'a comin' home no more
'Cause this time I know you won't forgive me
Like all of them other times before
Then I broke Elvis's nose
Pouring the last drop from his toes
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you

Last night I broke the seal on a Jim Beam decanter
That looks like Elvis
I soaked the label off a Flintstone Jelly Bean jar....

"The Last Town I Painted"

"The Last Town I Painted"

I came home the other night I've been out on a town
I searched talk through the house she was not around
I finally found her note it red this is goodbye to you
And that's the last town I painted and I painted it blue
Now that I have lost her I don't want to live
I done all the takin' I didn't want to give
Time has come it's plain to see the devil must pay his dues
And that's the last town I painted and I painted it blue
I still go to the tavern that I went to before
I search for the fun I had it's not there anymore
If I could have her back again I know I would be true
Cause the last town I painted I painted it blue
Now blue is not my favorite color cause it makes me sad
Why I asked for all these blues when I'm usin' too much red
I've got a lotta troubles no one to tell it to
Cause the last town I painted I painted it blue

"The Likes Of You"

"The Likes Of You"

The last time we parted
I was broken hearted
While the teardrops started
It's mighty close

And I set an' pondered
Oh, the dreams by thunder
And then I finally wondered
Why should it be so

A lot of fish in the ocean
A lot of star in the blue
And I've got a notion
That I can live without you

I goin' to stop my cryin'
When you start goodbyin'
I gonna quit relyin'
On the likes of you

You can go your way now
You don't have to stay now
Yes, you can go and play now
It won't make me blue.

You'll never change, dear
You'll stay the same, dear
But your little game, dear
Is my wrong gone years

There's other fish in the ocean
A lot of star in the blue
And I've got a notion
A lot of pretty girls too

I goin' to quit my cryin'
When you start goodbyin'
I gonna quit relyin'
On the likes of you

I goin' to quit my cryin'
When you start your goodbyin'
I gonna quit relyin'
On the likes of you...

"The Lone Ranger"

"The Lone Ranger"

I'm tired of sitting home, sick of being all alone
Thought I'd just go for a drive
I was headed downtown, when I did me a turnaround
When I saw the neon sign
Happy hour two for one, sounded like a lot of fun
So I stopped and went inside
The next thing that I knew, I was sittin' on a barstool
Having the time of my life

Well, I had more silver bullets last night
Than the Lone Ranger
I was shootin' 'em down like I didn't have a care
Ignoring all the danger
Bless my soul this morning I awoke
In the arms of a perfect stranger
I had more silver bullets last night than the Lone Ranger

Did I fail to mention it wasn't my intention
To stay out all night long
I was gonna have a few but one round led to two
Next thing I knew I was gone
Well here's where I draw a blank,
the band was playin' Hank
She rode in to save the day
And all I remember were kisses sweet and tender
And hi yo silver away

Well, I had more silver bullets last night
Than the Lone Ranger
I was shootin' 'em down like I didn't have a care
Ignoring all the danger
Bless my soul this morning I awoke
In the arms of a perfect stranger
I had more silver bullets last night than the Lone Ranger

Well, I had more silver bullets last night
Than the Lone Ranger
I was shootin' 'em down like I didn't have a care
Ignoring all the danger
Bless my soul this morning I awoke
In the arms of a perfect stranger
I had more silver bullets last night than the Lone Ranger

"The Love In Your Eyes"

"The Love In Your Eyes"

I've seen the Rocky's
Bloom in the springtime
Reflections of scarlet and gold

And I've seen the moonlight
Dance on the ocean
Like a silver ballet that unfolds

I've seen the bright lights
Of old New York City
There's nothing in the world that shines
Like the love in your eyes
Like the love in your eyes

There ain't no diamond
That ever has sparkled
There ain't no star that shines
Like the love in your eyes
Like the love in your eyes

I've had some good friends
Turn out to be strangers
Funny how quickly they turn

And I've had some lovers
That helped me discover
How easy it is to get burned

In this world of glitter
And cosmetic people
There's one thing
That's real in my mind
It's the love in your eyes
It's the love in your eyes

There ain't no diamond
That ever has sparkled
There ain't no star that shines
Like the love in your eyes
Oh, the love in your eyes

Sometimes I wander
And loose my direction
Sometimes I go over the line

But it's such a comfort
And it's such a blessing
To know that you're there all the time

And I feel I'm driftin'
On a sea of confusion
There's a beacon
That always shines
It's the love in eyes
It's the love in eyes

There ain't no diamond
That ever has sparkled
There ain't no star that shines
Like the love in your eyes
Like the love in your eyes

It's the love in your eyes
The love in your eyes

"The Man He Was"

"The Man He Was"

He always walked like he was in the country
His southern drawl was as sweet as honey
He hated biscuits in a rolled up can
That's the way he was, my old man

He always loved my mama's cookin'
He'd pat her butt and say 'hey good lookin'"
Now he's the reason i'm the way i am
I remind myself of my old man

He could drink like a fish, smoke like a fein
Never got drunk and never got mean
Strong as an ox, work like a dog
Hard as a rock and sweat like a log

The only man my mama ever loved
Hey that's my dad and that's the way he was

You never spoke back to my father
He never raised his voice or had to holler
He's tell us one time and we'd understand
That's the way he was, my old man

He loved his family and he helped his church
He hardly ever miss a day of work
God and country and two callused hands
That's the way he was, my old man

He could drink like a fish, smoke like a fein
Never got drunk and never got mean
Strong as an ox, work like a dog
