- 1. What is Dark Mode?
Dark mode is a multi-browser addon that helps you quickly turn the screen (browser) to dark at night time. Toolbar button serves as an ON|OFF switch which enables you to easily and quickly turn the extension ON or OFF. If you do not like the current dark theme (dark theme #1), please visit the options page and change the theme from the 4 options available. There is also a whitelist feature which enables you to exclude a desired domain from dark mode. Simply add domain(s) to the designated area (comma separated) and the websites will be excluded from night mode. - 2. How can I darken the new tab page?
In order to darken the new tab page, you need to use a separate add-on, as all modern browsers have strict rules for customizing the new tab page. A lite and easy-to-use add-on to darken the new tab page is called: Dark New Tab. It is available for Chrome and Firefox browsers only. Since the Opera browser does not allow manipulating the new tab page, Dark New Tab add-on is not currently working for Opera. Please note that this addon is only affecting the new tab page in your browser, and does not have any impact on other pages. - 3. How do I turn the extension OFF (turn dark mode globally off)?
In order to turn the addon OFF, please click on the toolbar icon once. When the icon turns purple, dark mode is off and when it turns to dark gray, dark mode is active. As mentioned above, for specific websites in the whitelist, dark mode is not applied at all. - 4. How to add a domain to the whitelist?
In order to add a specific domain to the whitelist, please open the options page and add the desired domain to the designated area. Instead of a domain, you can add a URL to the input area as well, and the addon will automatically converts it to domain. Please note, all domains must be comma separated (i.e. domain_1.com, domain_2.com, domain_3.com, etc.). - 5. How can I change dark mode style (theme)?
There are four options available for dark mode in the options page. In order to change one, please visit options page and choose desired night mode from the list. Please note that you cannot select multiple items at the same time. Once you click on any item, the webpages will change theme right-away, but it is better to reload the pages to apply newly changed themes. - 6. Is this extension available for mobile firefox (firefox for android)?
No, unfortunately this extension is only available for desktop machines. In future, it will be released for mobile firefox as well. - 7. How can I disable this addon?
If you do not like the dark mode, you do not need to disable the addon, simply click on the toolbar button to turn it OFF (when toolbar icon turns gray). Alternatively, you can visit extensions page in your browser and click on the disable addon button to turn it OFF. - 8. How can I remove a website from the whitelist?
Similar to adding a website to the whitelist table, please open the options page and remove the specific domain from the whitelist table. Please note that, domains must be comma separated to work properly. - 9. Can I whitelist a domain with mouse right-click (context menu item)?
No, unfortunately whitelisting is only available through options page. Currently, context menu item is not available, but in future versions it will be added to the addon.
