"Lovers Chain"

"Lovers Chain"

I've found all the love I've ever wanted
Things so sweet I never could explain
Hold me like a prisoner who has nowhere to escape
Tied forever to a lovers chain.

You showed me the strongest love is gentle
Softer than the lightest summer rain
You don't have to try at all to keep me where I am
Locked forever in the lovers chain.

Some friends would like to take me back to where I used to be
They can't believe my old ways have all died
They won't listen to me when I try to make them see
A little love can keep me satisfied.

It took a while to make my heart surrender
Surrender proved so easy when it came
Now nothing in this crazy world could take my heart away
From the sweetness of your lovers chain.

I've discovered my ideal of heaven
By your side forever I'll remain
All the doubtful pleasures of my past could not compare
With the sweetness of your lovers chain.

With the sweetness of your lovers chain...

"Lucille"

"Lucille"

In a bar in Toledo across the depot
On a barstool she took off her ring
I thought I'd get closer
So I walked on over
I sat down and ask her name
When the drink finally hit her
She said I'm no quitter
But I finally quit living on drinks
I'm hungry for laughter
And here ever after

In the mirror I saw him
I closely watch him
I thought how he looked out of place
He came to the woman
Sat down beside me
He had a strange look on his face
The big hands are callous
He looked like a mountain
From a minute I thought I was dead
But he started shaking
But his big heart was breaking

You picked the fine time to leave me, Lucille
Four hungry children and a crop in the field
I've had some bad time
Live thru' some sad times
But this time the hurting won't heal
You pick the fine time to leave me, Lucille

After he left her
I ordered some whisky
I thought how she made him look small
From thee lights of the barroom
To rented hotel room
We walked without talking at all
She was a beauty
But when she came to me
She must have thought I lose my mind
I couldn't hold her
The words that he told her
The words that he told her
Kept coming back time after time

I wandered today to the hill, Maggie,
To watch the scene below -
The creek and the creaking old mill, Maggie,
As we used to, long ago.
The green grove is gone from the hill, Maggie,
Where first the daisies sprung;
The creaking old mill is still, Maggie,
Since you and I were young.

"Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace"

"Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace"

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred let me bring love
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there is doubt, true faith in You.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness ever joy.

Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in giving to all man that we receive
And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

(Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console)
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in giving to all man that we receive
And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Make me a channel of your peace

"Make The World Go Away"

"Make The World Go Away"

Make the world go away
And get it off my shoulder
Say the things you used to say
Please make the world go away
Make the world go away

Do you remember when you loved me?
Before the world took me astray
If you do then forgive me
And make the world go away
Make the world go away

And get it off my shoulder
Say the things you used to say
Please make the world go away
Make the world go away

I'm sorry if I've hurt you
I'll make it up day by day
Just say you love me like you used to
And make the world go away

Make the world go away
Get it off my shoulder
Say the things you used to say
And make the world go away

Say the things you used to say
And make the world go away

"Mansion Over The Hilltop"

"Mansion Over The Hilltop"

I'm satisfied with just a cottage below
A little silver and a little gold
But in that city, where the ransomed will shine
I want a gold one, that's silver lined

I've got a mansion just over the hilltop
In that bright land where we'll never grow old
And someday yonder, we'll never more wander
But walk on streets that are purest gold

Though often tempted, tormented and tempted
And like the prophet my pillow is stone
And though I find here no permanent dwelling
I know he'll give me a mansion my own

I've got a mansion just over the hilltop

In that bright land where we'll never grow old
And someday yonder, we'll never more wander
But walk on streets that are purest gold

Don't think me poor Lord, deserted or lonely
I'm not discouraged, 'cause I'm heaven bound
I'm just a pilgrim in search of a city
I want a mansion, a harp, and a crown

I've got a mansion just over the hilltop
In that bright land where we'll never grow old
And someday yonder, we will never more wander
But walk on streets that are purest gold

"Mary From Dungloe"

"Mary From Dungloe"

Oh, then fare ye well, sweet Donegal, the Rosses and Gweedore
I'm crossing the main ocean, where the foaming billows roar
It breaks my heart from you to part, where I spent many happy days
Farewell to kind relations for I'm bound for America.

Oh, then Mary, you're my hearts delight, my pride and only care
It was your cruel father would not let me stay there
But absence makes the heart grow fond and when I am over the main
May the Lord protect my darling girl till I return again.

Oh, I wished I was in sweet Dungloe and seated on the grass
And by my side a bottle of wine and on my knee a lass
I'd call for liquor of the best and I'd pay before I would go
And I'd roll my Mary in my arms in the town of sweet Dungloe...

"Mary's Boy Child"

"Mary's Boy Child"

Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible said,
Mary's boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.
Hark, now hear the angels sing, a new King's born today,
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.

While shepherds watch their flocks by night,
They see a bright new shining star,
They hear a choir sing the music seemed to come from afar.
Hark, now hear the angels sing, a new King's born today,
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.

Now Joseph and his wife, Mary, came to Bethlehem that night,
They found no place to bear her child, not a single room was in sight.
And then they found a little nook in a stable all forlorn,
And in a manger cold and dark, Mary's little boy was born.

Hark, now hear the angels sing, a new King's born today,
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.
Trumpets sound and angels sing, listen to what they say,
That man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.
Yes, man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.

"Me And Bobby McGee"

"Me And Bobby McGee"

Busted flat in baton rouge and headin' for the trains
Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
Took us all the way to New Orleans

I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues
With them windshield wipers slappin' time and Bobby clappin' hands
We finally sang up every song that driver knew

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free
Oh, and feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues
Feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

From the coal mines of Kentucky to the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Standin' right beside me, Lord, through everything I'd done
Every night she kept me from the cold

Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away
Lookin' for the home, I hope she'll find
And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday
Holdin' Bobby's body next to mine

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free
Oh, and feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues
Feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

Me and Bobby McGee

"Medals For Mothers"

"Medals For Mothers"

I dreamed mama walked up
Those heavenly stairs
And medals for mothers
Were given up there

They mentioned the million things
Mom did for me
Things I took for granted
And never could see.

If there's medals for mother
For all of the deeds they have done
If there's medals for mothers
Mama you'll win everyone.

A medal of honor
Was pinned on her there
A medal for patience
And kind loving care.

A medal for duty
She won up above
But the biggest of all
Was the one for her love.

If there's medals for mothers
For all of the deeds they have done
If there's medals for mothers
Mama you'll win everyone.

Yes, Mama you'll win everyone...
