"So Good To So Bad"

"So Good To So Bad"

It goes from so good to so bad so soon
From so good to so bad so soon
Nobody told me so I never knew
It goes from so good to so bad so soon.

It goes from sunshine to shadows to rain
Goes from passion to pleasure to pain
From singing sweet love songs to crying the blues
From so good to so bad so soon.

It's started with words like forever
Went from always to sometime to never
From give me some lovin' to give me some boon
From so good to so bad so soon.

It goes from so good to so bad so soon
From so good to so bad so soon
If nobody told you it's time that you knew
It goes from so good to so bad so soon.

From so good to so bad so soon, so soon...

"So Soon"

You promised love that never would end
But now you are gone and the hurtin' begins
Just what do you mean that I'm no more than a friend
Oh darling, have you forgotten so soon?

Love that we knew just fell by the way
The tears from my eyes fall day after day
There was a time we were carefree and gay
Oh darling, have you forgotten so soon?

Lost is our love that we found long ago
Warm memories so soon have grown cold
Now where are the dreams that we dreamed long ago
Oh darling, have you forgotten so soon?

My darling, have you forgotten so soon?...

"Some Days Are Diamonds"

"Some Days Are Diamonds"

Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone
Somedays the hard times won't leave us alone
Sometimes the cold wind brought chill to my bones
Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone.

How the face that I see in the mirror
More and more is a stranger to me
More and more I can see there's a danger
In becoming what I never thought I'll be.

Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone
Somedays the hard times won't leave us alone
Sometimes the cold wind brought chill to my bones
Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone.

So when you ask how I've been here without you
I like to say I've been fine and so I did
But we both know the truth is hard to come by
And if I told the truth, that's not quit true.

Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone
Somedays the hard times won't leave us alone
Sometimes the cold wind brought chill to my bones
Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone.

Somedays are diamonds, somedays are stone...

"Somebody Bought My Old Hometown"

"Somebody Bought My Old Hometown"

I used to like to listen to the tales of the old men
Who sat around the old park square
But the piddlers and the whittlers and the checker boards're gone
There's a brand new office building there.

And the street known as Maple is much wider now
And there are no maples to be found
Since Consolidated Whozit Subdivision of Universal
What-You-Call-It bought my old hometown.

There used to be good fishin' down along the shady mill stream
You'd see 'em as they jumped and played
But the blue gill and the croppie and the old mill made way
For Chemical Division Section A.

They pulled up the flowers planted by the Ladies' Club
And took the city founder statue down
Since Consolidated Whozit Subdivision of Universal
What-You-Call-It bought my old hometown.

Yeah, the picture show has had it where I used to spend my Saturdays
With Jean and Roy and Hop Along
Now the Brotherhood of Gismo Fixers Local 102
Is making it their temporary home.

They cut down the maples along Maple Street
And of course the pool hall came down
Since Consolidated Whozit Subdivision of Universal
What-You-Call-It bought my old hometown...

[Narrative by Bobby spoken after song:]
(Now he's circling a spot that I know.)
Oh, I miss the old movie house and the fishin' and all that
But what really got me was when they came up with the city beautiful
campaign and that urban renewal boy.

"Someplace To Come When It Rains"

"Someplace To Come When It Rains"

Lady, you see me with now and again in this dimly lit hideway place
With skin soft as velvet and warm reaching hands
And the sweet look of love on her face
And you say ain't he lucky just look at those eyes
She's worth any price you can name
And you think that she's mine but you don't realize
I'm just someplace to come when it rains.

Someplace to hide when she's tired of the ride
Just someone to soften the pain
Lord knows where she plays on her sunshiny days
I'm just someplace to come when she can't find the sun
Just someplace to come when it rains.

The lady she dances so light in my arms I swear she could float me away
And she gives me the feeling I'm safe from all harm
Just as long as she holds me that way
And I can't say she's wrong cause I've known all along
Her lovin' is well worth the pain
So wherever it leads I'll be there when she needs
Someplace to come when it rains.

Someplace to hide when she's tired of the ride
Just someone to soften the pain
Lord knows where she plays on her sunshiny days
I'm just someplace to come when she can't find the sun
Just someplace to come when it rains.

I'm just someplace to come when it rains...

"Son Of Hickory Hollow's Tramp"

"Son Of Hickory Hollow's Tramp"

The corn was dry and the weeds were high when daddy took to drinking
Then him and Lucy Walker they took up and ran away
Mama cried a tear and then she promised fourteen children
I swear you'll never see a hungry day.

Oh, the path was deep and wide from footsteps leading to our cabin
Above the door there burned the scarlet lamp
And late at night a hand would knock and there would stand a stranger
Yes, I'm the son of Hickory Holler's tramp.

When mama sacrificed her pride the neighbors started talkin'
But I was much too young to understand the things they said
The things that mattered most of all was mama's chicken dumplings
And the goodnight kiss before we went to bed.

Oh the path was deep and wide from footsteps leading to our cabin
Above the door there burned the scarlet lamp
And late at night a hand would knock and there would stand a stranger
Yes, I'm the son of Hickory Holler's tramp.

When daddy left then destitution came upon our family
Not one neighbor volunteered to give a helping hand
So let 'em gossip all they want, she loved us and she raised us
The proof is standing here a full grown man.

Last summer mama passed away and left the ones who loved her
Each and every one of us were more than grateful for our birth
Now every Sunday she receives a fresh bouquet of fourteen roses
With a card that says to the greatest mom on earth.

Oh the path was deep and wide from footsteps leading to our cabin
Above the door there burned the scarlet lamp
And late at night a hand would knock and there would stand a stranger
Yes, I'm the son of Hickory Holler's tramp.

"Song Of The South"

"Song Of The South"

Cotton on the roadside cotton in the ditch
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich
Daddy was a veteran a Southern Democrat
Said they oughta kill a rich man to vote like that.

Sing a song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
Ain't nobody looking back again.

Well, I was eighteen fore I ate my fill
We lied on the garden and the cow's good will
Winter was wet and the summer was dry
And mama she was old at thirty-five.

Somebody told us Wall Street fell
So damn poor we couldn't even tell
Cotton was short and the weeds were tall
Mr. Roosevelt's gonna save us all.

Sing a song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
Ain't nobody looking back again.

Mama got sick and daddy got down
County got the farm and they moved to town
Daddy took a job with the TVA
Bought a washin' machine and a Chevrolet.

Sing a song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
Ain't nobody looking back again.

Sing a song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
Ain't nobody looking back again.

Sing a song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
Ain't nobody looking back again...

"Stacy Brown Got Two"

"Stacy Brown Got Two"

Did you hear about Stacy Brown (no we didn't but we'd like to)
He had every chick in town (no he didn't but he tried to)
He got looks he got class do anything to get a little lass
Everybody shouts at him as he walks his girlies past.

They say everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Stacy Brown got two.

Do you know the reason for his success (no we don't so tell us)
They say that he was double blessed (not like those fellas)
They say that Stacy Brown was born just a little bit deformed
That's why his girl friends they all wake up smilin' every morn.

Singin' everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Stacy Brown got two.

Why they're climbin' up the wall (just to get to Stacy)
Young ones run and the old ones crawl (he drives us crazy)
He got two and that's a fact but no one knows where the other one's at
On his elbow on his knee or underneath his hat.

Ooh, everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Everybody got one (everybody got one)
Stacy Brown got two.

He got two, yes it's true
Oh, neighbors talkin'
My girl friend she's jealous...

"Steal Away"

"Steal Away"

(Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus
Steal away, steal away home, I ain't got long to stay here.)

I was walkin' in Savannah passed the church decayed and dimed
When there's slowly through the window came a plaintive funeral hymn
And a sympathy awakened while a wonder quickly grew
Till I found myself seat in a little negro pew.

Out at front a young couple sat in sorrow nearly wild
Cause on the altar was a coffin and in the coffin was their child
Row of sad old negro preacher at his little wooden desk
With a manner grandly upward with the countless grotesque.

And he said now don't be weepin' for this pretty bit of clay
For the little boy who lived there he done gone and run away
And he was doin' very finly and he appreaciated your love
But it's sure enough father want him in the large house up above.

Now he didn't give you that baby by a hundred thousand miles
He just think you need some sunshine and he lend it for awhile
And he let you keep and love it till your hearts were bigger grown
And these silver tears you have shed that's just interest on the loan.

So my poor dejected mourners let your hearts with Jesus rest
And don't go criticize no one the one that knows the best
He sent us many comforts he's ever right to take away
So to the Lord be praised in glory now and ever let us pray.

(I ain't got long to stay here...)

"Strange Bird"

"Strange Bird"

She's a wild girl but that's alright
Because she's living in a wild world
And she's kinda like the queen bee
Swimming in cola like a strange bird
You don't want to get close to

Yea, she's a strange bird and I should know
Because I thought I'd heard an angel
From down the road but it was you, girl
Climbing up a tree and you were howling
I thought I heard you singing

I'm a princess and I'm a thief
I'll make you laugh and leave you grief
Pay your ticket and get your keys
'Cause I'm bored and I, I wanna go home
I'm bored and I, I wanna go home

She is a wild one but that's okay
Because she's living in a wild world
Where I'm the fly and she's the spider
Fighting in and out beneath your collar
I thought I heard her singing

I'm a princess and I'm a thief
I'll make you laugh and leave you grief
Pay your ticket and get your keys
'Cause I'm bored and I, I wanna go home
I'm bored and I, I wanna go home
