AC3Filter is high quality freeware DirectShow audio decoder and processor filter used to decode audio tracks in movies (DVD, MPEG4 and others). It has a priority on wide functionality and convenient settings.
AC3 Filter can decode following audio formats: AC3 / DTS / MPEG Audio. It also supports multi-channel and digital (SPDIF) outputs.

AC-3 ACM Decompressor




Dolby Digital AC-3 decoding for Windows ACM. Install this and you can convert/decompress AC3 audio directly to WAV / MP3 using VirtualDub. This also works with AviSynth, TMPGEnc, allowing you to use AC3 encoded AVI files, not normally recognised.
How to install/uninstall AC-3 ACM Decompressor :

If you've never installed the decompressor before, simply right-click on the "AC3ACM.inf" file, and choose "Install" from the popup menu. I don't think it's necessary to reboot, but it can't hurt. If you get a scary that the program has not passed "Windows Logo testing" (which is quite true BTW), choose to "Continue Anyway."

To uninstall the decompressor, start Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs" dialog, select "AC-3 ACM Decompressor", and press the "Add/Remove" button.

If you have installed a previous version of the decompressor, I recommend you uninstall the old version as described above, and reboot Windows before installing this version. (It's probably not necessary to do all that, but again, it can't hurt.)

Changes in AC-3 ACM Decompressor 1.4 :

- Fixed an A/V sync problem when encoding 44100 Hz AC-3.
- If you insert AC3ACM into a DirectShow filter graph as an AC-3 encoder, it chooses a default bitrate based on the number of source channels. The default is (96 * nChannels) kBit/s. I've added an option in the driver configuration dialog which allows you to change the default to (64 * nChannels).

Ogg Vorbis is a new audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats.
It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented.

Few words about Ogg Vorbis CODEC project :

Ogg Vorbis is a fully open, non-proprietary, patent-and-royalty-free, general-purpose compressed audio format for mid to high quality (8kHz-48.0kHz, 16+ bit, polyphonic) audio and music at fixed and variable bitrates from 16 to 128 kbps/channel. This places Vorbis in the same competitive class as audio representations such as MPEG-4 (AAC), and similar to, but higher performance than MPEG-1/2 audio layer 3, MPEG-4 audio (TwinVQ), WMA and PAC.

How to install Vorbis Ogg ACM Codec :

- Uncompress the files from vorbis_ogg_acm.zip archive, right-click on the vorbisacm.inf file and select Install.
- You may encounter a prompt saying: "The software you are installing for this hardware... has not passed Windows Logo testing..."; click on the Continue Anyway button.
